Biofortification, Genetic Engineering and Corporate Interests: False solutions to malnutrition

Abstract: Biofortification through genetic engineering is an unethical and inefficient attempt to introduce nutrition into nutritionally empty food and farming. Malnutrition and nutrient deficiency results from destroying biodiversity and, with it, rich sources of nutrition. Organic and biodiverse food production systems are a much safer, more democratic and ethical solution to the nutrition crisis.
