Abstract:
Abstract Climate change represents perhaps one of the greatest challenges to sustainable growth and development in the world today. The five hottest years ever recorded on earth have all happened since 2010. East Africa’s economy and energy systems are highly dependent on natural resources and therefore very vulnerable to current and predicted impacts of climate change. The major aim and purpose of this article is to provide a concise understanding of key trends, patterns and impacts of climate change in East Africa. It also presents the expected and current impacts of climate change on the energy sector of East Africa with a specific focus on Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
