Multi-factor productivity: estimates for 1997 to 2006

Peter Goodridge

Economic & Labour Market Review, 2008, vol. 2, issue 1, 42-48

Abstract: Presents the above using an experimental quality-adjusted labour input measure and experimental estimates of capital services growth as inputsThis article presents multi-factor productivity, sometimes referred to as total factor productivity or growth accounting, results for 1997 to 2006 using an experimental quality-adjusted labour input measure and experimental estimates of capital services growth as inputs. The analysis has been produced for the whole economy, some broad industry groupings and for the first time the market sector, with the aim of better understanding the UK?s productivity performance over this period and of using the results as a diagnostic check on the consistency of output and input data.
