Abstract: Between 2006 and 2008 ONS led aresearch group consisting of representivesfrom 13 EU statistical offices and a smallnumber of independent academics to:develop new indicators on theeconomic impact of ICT in business,andextend consistent analysis of ICTimpacts to new countriesThe results show beneficial productivityeffects associated with ICT. Firm-levelanalysis in Sweden and Netherlandssuggests that this is partly due to ICTbeing a facilitator of wider innovation.The results of this study are comparedwith recent work in the US and a numberof other OECD countries. The articleconcludes by outlining objectives for thenext round of research.
