Abstract: In the global economic competition marked by the United States as the most developed and most powerful representative of the free enterprise system and by the Soviet Union as the oldest and most influential representative of the socialist world, Hungary is a small and perhaps inconsequential competitor. Since January 1, 1968, however, this small but enterprising nation through the implementation of a set of economic reforms, which can only be described as the most advanced and perhaps the most liberal in the socialist camp, has made news all over the world.© 1971 JIBS.
