Abstract:
This paper presents the main criticisms to the traditional economic and economic development theories, starting from the constitution of a new school of economic thought, ¡.e., the theory of endogenous growth. With this purpose, the author uses a descriptive and analytical approach to the theory of endogenous growth and its consequences on the transformation of the economies. He also underlines the importance of this new theory for the economic dynamism of developing countries, such as those of Latin America, and its applications in economic and social policies. Finally, the author emphasizes the new possibilities and the «shortcuts to development)) provided in the contents and messages of this new school of economic thought.
