Creación y destrucción de empleos en el sector manufacturero del Perú: 2002-2007

Abstract:
Through a set of productive features of a sample of firms that created and destroyed jobs in the formal manufacturing sector of Peru for the period 2002-2007, this paper estimate the conditional labor demand equation under three interpretations. The main results of these estimations suggest that jobs creation and destruction were statistically related to positive and negative changes of real output respectively. However, the rates of change of these job flows were lower than those of the real output value. On the other hand, jobs flows were positively associated to firms’ degree of processing. Other minor factors associated to jobs flows were firms’ size and the capital-labor ratio.
