Abstract:
Transportation and travel can be discussed without taking tourism into consideration, but tourism cannot thrive without travel. Transportation is an integral part of the tourism industry. It is largely due to the improvement of transportation that tourism has expanded. Air transport industry has substantially reduced travel time and travel costs for longer haul travels inside Europe in competition and complementarity with other transport modes. As a result over half of international tourist arrivals globally are now by air and international air passengers are predominantly tourists. The article presents development of Polish regional airports in the context of tourism industry needs. Author presents characteristics of polish aviation market, putting special attention on charter market. He also examines the development of Polish regional airports
