Abstract:
The aim of this research is the identification of the main milestones of Italian Agricultural Economics from 1850 to 1930. The study is based on the analisis of the texbooks considered as key references for this discipline. In the early phase, Agricultural Economics was originally based on agronomic sciences, whereas in the late phase, throughout a long, hard pathway, full of obstacles and trials, it was connected in a more strict way to Economics, loosing any technical specificities.
