Abstract: The paper aims at highlighting the role played by Altiero Spinelli in the circulation of economic ideas between the fascist period and a few years after ww ii. We look at the changing sources of his economic culture, from Marxism to some Italian and British federalist liberal authors and underline his role in the reception and transmission of some crucial elements of the economic culture in Italy and abroad
