Abstract:
The paper attempts to outline the government activity of Antonio Pesenti, first as undersecretary, then as minister of Finance, in Italy, during the period 1944-1945, when, owing to the dissolution of Parliament, the main documents are a collection of Pesenti’s articles, the minutes of Cabinet meetings and a collection of records found at The National Archives, Washington, concerning the relations between the Italian ministry of Finance and the Finance Sub-Commission of the Allied Control Commission. The paper considers the following years of Pesenti’s political activity too, examining his position on the main problems of the Italian economic and public finance policy during the long time when he was a member of Parliament
