Abstract:
In Sismondi’s economic analysis the notion of interest has a dynamic value: it serves not only to explain the ability of the economic system to establish an order among its component factors but also to found the economic discourse on criteria of justice which bend on a process similar to that used to legitimate the existence and actions of society. The Genevan and Scottish traditions represent for Sismondi the sources of his original solution to the problem posed by the difficult relationship between individual and public interest
