Abstract: The Annals of Italian economy offer to the historian the cognitive basis on the evolution of national economic structures in an organic way. Facts and problems are analized and various themes are discussed in an excellent complex. The temporal scan in decades and the specification of great themes as agriculture, manufacturing, foreign trade, government spending and public works do not determine the isolation of topics, all intrinsically related and implicitly quoted in the discussion; financial and investments problems and limited companies developments are in a close relation with the evolution of the Italian capitalism. Facts review with their interconnections it is not separated from identification of problems deriving from the international positioning of Italy and it is linked to a dedicated and responsible render. The International economic reality is examined in all its components; the liberal point of view of economic events do not lead the author to a doctrinal position with a dogmatic view. The economic history outlined in the Annals enlarges the political future of Italy and is soaked of an authentic ‘Risorgimental spirit’, both in the first volume, where values of Unità d’Italia and sacrifices of Mezzogiorno, and in the last volume, where results of the first fifty years of united life are enhanced as expression of commitment and sacrifices of national society components in a condition of economic and politic freedom. Also the volume with effective summary The Italian economy from 1860 to 1960 that the author wanted to get published in 1962, some decades later, resumes these distintive features. The continuation of the Annals with the dissertation of the following decades completes his excellent work and the contributions by Gaetano Rasi consent an observation of the Italian economy after 1914. The Annals of Italian economy published in 1980s by Ipsoa Institute are, as per Epicarmo Corbino expectations in 1981, «a historical source of National economy of remarkable aspects and undeniable scientific value».
