Abstract:
Between 1961 and 1970 Corbino published more than 200 articles in «Corriere della Sera», dealing with many issues (tourism, urban planning, education, housing, environmental pollution, and many more. As an economist, however, his interest mainly focused on monetary and fiscal policy in the context of the more general criticism to the center-left governments. This paper aims to examine the writings of Corbino in «Corriere», with particular regard to its economic policy proposals. Although mainly guided by a high degree of pragmatism, we will show that Corbino’s proposals were always consistent with his liberal theoretical approach. We will also try to address the question of why Corbino’s collaboration to «Corriere» suddenly ended in 197o.
