Abstract:
Jacini’s writings contains very useful guidelines for scholars involved in studies about an again influential scientific legacy of economic and political ideas that supported Italian unification in a new Kingdom one century and half ago. These guidelines are based on two different but convergent analytical paths. The first played a fundamental role in grounding an Italian stream of agricultural economics and gave the same stream a strong sensitiveness to analyse agrarian activities from a territorial standpoint. The second concerned decentralization of governance in Italian State and moved Jacini to think a regionalist and even local economic policy way. Jacini’s studies about the two topics were strongly grounded on principles of Italian civil economy he had learned by means of both scientific Cattaneo’s legacy and daily immersion in the Lombard civicness.
