Abstract:
This is a review article of Piero Barucci’s book L’economia politica e la sua storia (Firenze, Polistampa- Fondazione Spadolini Nuova Antologia, 2012), a collection of essays relating to the history of political economy, with special focus on methodological issues. The article discusses Barucci’s antidogmatic approach to economics and his ‘cyclical’ view of the relationships between facts, theories, economic culture and economic policies, which in turn affect facts thus starting a new cycle. The article includes some examples from the history of economics which are useful to discuss Barucci’s points, and concludes with some critical remarks.
