Abstract: With the expansion of globalisation, the significance of the state declines. However, the state, by cooperating with various international organizations, still plays an important part in inspiring and coordinating actions. Based on the available literature, the article presents various scientists’ ideas on the role of the state in globalisation processes. The attitude of the Polish state towards globalisation and integration processes occurring in the food industry in years 1990–2008 was assessed. The possibilities of state influence now and in the future in the industry were also considered.
