Abstract:
This paper employs two different techniques – the ZSUM and Weighted Factor Socre – and twenty seven indicators to quantify the levels of development in the districts of Pakistan in the 1970s. The magnitude of development indicators in relatively underdeveloped districts are analyzed to construct a profile of backwardness. Also, our rankings are compared with those obtained by Helbock and Naqavi (1976) for Pakistan in the 1960s.
