Culture and Security Relations on the Basis of Hofstede’s Cultural Perspective

Abstract:
Aim of this paper is to find out answers to the questions; if culture has an effect on security, and the way of relations between personal and national security after 9/11. Hofstede’s cultural perspective is used for the research and individualism-collectivism dimension is applied. Results show that there is a strong relation between culture and security and also there is a transformation in security perception after 9/11, pointing out a direction from personal security to national security.
