Abstract:
This study employs response surface methodology (RSM) integrated with a hybrid Box-Behnken and D-optimal experimental design to unravel the multi-parameter coupling effects of root reinforcement on the hydro-mechanical behavior of expansive soils. The experimental framework systematically investigated root diameter (1–5 mm), length (30–50 mm), quantity (3–5 roots), and distribution patterns (horizontal, inclined, composite), with quantitative assessments of disintegration amount (DA), swelling force (SF), and swelling rate (SR).
