Abstract: Lucrarea prezinta notiunile de baza cu privire la managementul riscurilor (notiunea de risc, conceptele existente cu privire la risc, categoriile de risc, semnificatia termenilor risc inerent si risc rezidual, explicarea termenilor utilizati in mod curent in managementul riscurilor), in vederea facilitarii intelegerii acestor notiuni. De asemenea sunt descrise conditiile minime necesare pentru implementarea unui sistem eficient de management al riscurilor in cadrul institutiei publice. Asadar, in prima parte scopul lucrarii este o introducere in notiunile si teoriile specifice managementului riscurilor. In partea a doua este descris procesul de management al riscurilor, respectiv pasii esentiali in abordarea acestei problematici. Lucrarea este parte a unui proiect pre-doctoral care are ca scop dezvoltarea managementului riscurilor in institutiile publice. Caracteristicile actuale ale mediului economico-social si politic al societatii romanesti impun constientizarea necesitatii implementarii unor sisteme functionale de management al riscurilor in cadrul entitatilor publice, in vederea asigurarii atingerii obiectivelor propuse, in conditii de limitare continua a resurselor financiare si materiale aflate la dispozitie.
