Abstract: Astazi, mai mult de doua treimi din populatia Europei locuieste in zone urbane, iar tendinta este una de crestere. Ca si in cazul societatilor comerciale, majoritatea acestei populatiei se regaseste in orasele mici si mijlocii, orase care se confrunta cu o serie de provocari generice, de natura demografica, economica, sociala, de mediu, dar si cu o serie de provocari specifice cum ar fi cele legate de reteaua de utilitati, transportul in comun, infrastructura de transport neadaptata noilor cerinte, etc. Prezentul articol isi propune realizarea unei analize asupra modului in care pot fi rezolvate toate aceste provocari prin implementarea unor strategii de dezvoltare urbana integrate sustenabile si inclusive
