Abstract:
Integrated approach means a set of specifi c events mutually interconnected in terms of content as well as time that will be realized by means of two or more projects aimed at reaching a common objective of the location, city or region and that may be supported from one or several operational programs. Integrated approach is supported method for effi ciency improvement of regional policy in the European Union and therefore through the Cohesion Policy in the Czech Republic as well. In the Czech Republic the integrated approaches are implemented in practical way only by the Integrated urban development plans (IUDP) as a part of the structural funds framework. The goal of the article is to introduce general characteristics of these approaches and their specifi c types in specific territories. As a success ?story? of IUDP implementation the other plans with similar characteristics have emerged ? integrated territory development plans, integrated landscape development plans etc. Supportive goal of article is to not only evaluate present realization of these integrated approaches, but also to defi ne a possible future utilization of these approaches as a part of regional policy tools in terms of making effi cient policy, making quality and explicit decisions, decreasing disparities between regions alongside with strengthening of region competitiveness and development, and last but not least securing of fi nancial means both from EU and Czech Republic sources.
