Abstract:
The economic and social cohesion both belong to one of the most important areas of interest within the EU member states. It is clear, that the economic levels of its regions significantly differ. The question is: how it will affect the shaping of the economic and social cohesion policy in the programming period 2014-2020 in the Czech Republic. The main objective of this paper is to compare the territorial statistical unit (NUTS II) levels in the Czech Republic. This issue is crucial not only for getting financial resources from the structural funds of the European Union, but also for shaping the future version of the economic and social cohesion policy in the Czech Republic in the following programming period 2014-2020. At first, the current situation of the economic and social cohesion policy in the Czech Republic is described. Furthermore, the paper is devoted to the economic level of the Czech regions and their comparison through the indicator of GDP per capita in PPP. At the end, factors that influence the form of economic and social cohesion policy in the Czech Republic are described.
