Abstract:
The article aims to draw attention to the contemporary debate on the future of the European Union in the context of current crisis and its potential consequences, especially in legal and economic terms. Since 2008, the financial, debt and economic crisis has been revealing the weaknesses of the European integration, particularly in the area of monetary and economic union. The Union has responded to the crisis by a series of measures and proposals, whose common aim was to solve the problems and to prevent their future revival. At the same time, all of these proposals and measures have further deepening of integration as a common feature. The aim of the article is not only to simply analyze proposed measures, but also to outline possible paths the EU integration project will follow in the mid-term horizon in case these measures are approved. The concluding synthesis summarizes key issues of the EU debate that open entirely new perspectives on the EU integration (questions linked to structural reforms, responsibility for the outcome of further integration, ex-ante coordination of European policies).
