Abstract:
With the intensifying threat of climate change and further environmental problems, the im-portance of environmental diplomacy increases as well, both as theory and practice. In the first part of the paper, we offer an overview of theoretical knowledge of environmental diplomacy. Next, we focus on Slovakia and its activities related to this particular dimension of diplomacy. Information gained from the scientific literature and relevant online portals was complemented by four interviews with key informants. Our findings underline the thesis that Slovakia participates in environmental diplomacy primarily as a member of international organizations. Research on environmental diplomacy and the environment in Slovakia demonstrates potential also for the future.
