Abstract: [fre] A partir du texte de F. Galiani nous pouvons préciser la place qu'occupe la théorie de la monnaie dans l'économie politique naissante. Nous proposons ensuite une réflexion critique sur deux aspects de la pensée monétaire au xvnie siècle : la monnaie comme marchandise particulière chez Galiani, et la notion de valeur réelle de la monnaie chez Smith qui conduit d'une part à des difficultés pour définir la monnaie de manière cohérente avec la théorie de la valeur, d'autre part à une analyse de la circulation monétaire où la monnaie-signe est conçue en fait comme un bon d'achat. [eng] The problem of the value of money. . Galiani's text enables us to specify the importance of the theory of money in the early political economy. We then propose a critical reflection on two aspects of the monetary thought in the xvmth century : money as a particular commodity in Galiani's theory, and the notion of the real value of money in Smith's theory, notion which makes it difficult to define money consistently with the theory of value on the one hand, and which leads to conceiving money as a commodity voucher on the other hand.
