Abstract: [spa] La artesania a grandes rasgos - Se considera jurídicamente que son artesanales las empresas que cuentan menos de 10 asalariados y que ejercen actividades de producción, transformación o prestación de servicios excepto reventa en estas condiciones. A partir de la Clasificación de oficios, en la que teóricamente deben de matricularse, fueron censadas, con fecha del 1° de enero de 1978, 659 000 de dichas pequenas empresas, las que emplean 2 millones de personas entre las cuales la mitad aproximadamente esta constituida por trabajadores no asalariados. Con objeto de describir el mundo artesano, se toma interés sucesivamente en el proprío artesano, su origen, su formación profesional — el personal que emplea — su estatuto, la evolución del numéro de trabajadores en el transcurso de 1978 — y finalmente en la inversión — su importe y modo de financiamiento. [eng] The legal definition of a handicraft is a firm having less than 10 employees and exercising an activity of production, processing or providing of services (except for the direct resale of goods without added value). Based on a directory of trades in which handicrafts should, in principle, be registered, there were, as of 1978, 659 000 such small firms, employing 2 million people, of which roughly half are not wage-earners. To describe the world of craftsmen, the author focuses successively on the craftsman himself — his origins, his training — , the staff he employs — their status and the evolution of their numbers during 1978 — and, lastly, on investment — the amounts and the mode of financing. [fre] Sont juridiquement considérées comme artisanales les entreprises de moins de dix salariés et exerçant des activités de production, de transformation ou de prestation de services à l'exception de la revente en l'état. A partir du Répertoire des métiers où elles doivent théoriquement s'inscrire, on recense au 1er janvier 1978, 659 000 de ces petites entreprises, lesquelles emploient 2 millions de personnes dont environ la moitié de non-salariés. Pour décrire le monde de l'artisanat, on s'intéresse successivement à l'artisan lui-même — son origine, sa formation — , au personnel qu'il emploie — son statut, l'évolution des effectifs au cours de 1978, — et enfin à l'investissement — son montant et son mode de financement.
