Abstract: [eng] The Move towards Capitalism in Central and Eastern Europe Structural Changes and Integration into the World Market . The process of transition in the economies of the five Central and East European countries has been under way for over three years. The planned economy has collapsed, but free-market regulation has not yet taken over. . The cost of changing the economic system and the time needed for this process have been underestimated: the road to setting up the institutional structure required to run . a true free-market economy well will be a rocky one, especially for privatizations. . Gradual convergence with the West European economies will be determined by the conditions governing the incorporation of the Central and East European countries into the world economy. Le processus de transition dans les économies des cinq pays d'Europe centrale et orientale est engagé depuis plus de trois ans. L'économie administrée s'est effondrée mais une régulation par le marché ne s'y est pas encore substituée. . Le coût et le délai de ce changement de système économique ont été sous-estimés : la mise en place du cadre institutionnel nécessaire au bon fonctionnement d'une véritable économie de marché sera difficile, notamment pour ce qui est des privatisations. . La réalisation d'une convergence progressive avec les économies ouest-européennes sera déterminée par les conditions d'insertion des pays d'Europe centrale et orientale dans l'économie mondiale.
