In einem Land ohne Einwohnerverzeichnis stellt die feste demographische Stichprobe das einzige Mittel zur Verfolgung der râumlichen Wanderung der Individuen dar, obwohl sie den Wohnort nur zu bestimmten Zeitpunkten (Volkszàhlung, EheschlieBung, Geburt der Kinder) angibt. Um dièse Informationsquelle verwerten zu kônnen, mûssen jedoch die individuellen Wanderbewegungen rekonstruiert und deren Grenzen bewertet werden. Anhand einer Analyse dieser Wanderbewegungen lassen sich die wesentlichen Merkmale der geographischen Mobilitât der Franzosen genauer bestimmen.
