Abstract: [fre] Résumé Si l'Histoire Naturelle reçut une certaine impulsion en Europe, sous l'influence des auteurs classiques retrouvés, elle ne prit véritablement son ampleur qu'avec la découverte du Nouveau Monde et l'afflux aux XVIe et XVIIe siècles d'échantillons, d'informations recueillies sur le terrain. La flore et la faune de la Nouvelle-Espagne firent l'objet de diverses études. La Hist oria Natural.. du Proto-Médico Hernandez, par exemple, ou encore le Livre XI du Codex de Florence, Corpus en nahuatl avec version espagnole élaboré par Sahagùn et ses informateurs indigènes, et enfin le Codex Badianus, œuvre de circonstance d'Indiens acculturés, qui tient à la fois de l'herbier médiéval et du livre de « recettes ». Ces œuvres reflètent tout autant l'ouverture d'esprit et l'humanisme de ceux qui les ont conçues, qu'elles portent témoignage de la Science des anciens Mexicains et de leur apport dans le domaine des produits comestibles et de la pharmacopée. [eng] Abstract If the influence of refounded classic Authors gave a certain stimulus to Natural History in Europe, this field only acquired its full range with the discovery of the New World and the influx during the XVIth & XVIIth centuries of many samples of field informations. There are many studies on New Spain's Flora and Fauna, the « Historia Natural »... by Proto-Médico Hernandez, for example, or the « Florentine Codex », Book XI - Corpus in Nahualt with Spanish version, by Sahagun and his local Informants, and finally the « Codex Badianus », a circumstanced work by acculturated Indians, both a medieval Herbal and a « Recipe » Book. These works show the open mind and humanism of their Authors, witnessing as well the ancient Mexicans great knowledge and their contribution in the field of edible products and pharmacopoeia.
