Abstract: [fre] Résumé L'étude comparée des grands thèmes de la prédication jésuite rend compte des préoccupations pastorales de l'époque et d'un projet social aux aspects traditionnels et novateurs. Fidèles à la tradition catholique, les sermonnaires de la Compagnie de Jésus surent maintenir le contenu théologique et spirituel de leur message, lequel, chercha également à définir le rôle du chrétien dans un monde en profonde mutation. Les Pères inlassablement, plaidèrent en faveur de l'homme et s'opposèrent à une piété trop rigide. Adversaires convaincus des « idées nouvelles », ils refusèrent le débat philosophique qui s'engageait alors et en sous-estimèrent, par là même, la portée. [eng] Abstract A comparative study of the major themes of Jesuit preaching reveals the era's preoccupations with religions education as well as a social project with both traditionnel and innovative aspects. Faithful to the Roman Catholic tradition, the preachers of the Society of Jesus succeeded in preserving the theological and spiritual contents of their message while endeavouring to define the role of the Christian in a drastically changing world. The Fathers ceaselessly pleaded in favour of Man and rejected too strict forms of piety. As relentless adversaries of the « New Ideas » they refused the philosophical debate which was then being launched, thus underestimating its full significance.
