Abstract: [eng] Abstract : The fewest imperfect indicator for comparing economic growth in different regions seems to be the chain of Laspeyres indices. The application of this method to the cases of Champagne and Alsace during the XlXth and XXth centuries shows fundamentally different models of growth and confirms the major importance of the problem of the labour resources in France during the second half of the XlXth century. [fre] Résumé : L'indicateur le moins imparfait pour comparer des croissances économiques régionales semble être la chaîne d'indices-Laspeyres. L'application de cette méthode à la Champagne et à l'Alsace pour les XIXe et XXe siècles montre deux modèles de croissance fondamentalement différents et confirme l'importance majeure du problème des ressources de main-d'œuvre dans la France de la deuxième moitié du XIXe siècle.
