[eng] Abstract : It has long been established that the french word «révolution» had undergone a complete change of meaning during modern times. Whereas it originally indicated cyclical movements, it has been applied to those radical mutations, which turn society and history upside down. However the stages in this process are not perfectly cleared up yet. The writings of Eighteenth Century french philosophers or historians have been carefully but vainly studied with the purpose of finding out some occurrences or the new meaning. On the other hand, many are provided by religious writers of the XVIIIth century, who were using «révolution» to describe the Redeeming of sinning Humanity by the Incarnation of Jesus Christ, as well as the destruction of paganism and the end of the Alliance of the Old Testament to establish a new world.
