Abstract: [fre] Résumé Dans cet article, je présenterai les récentes opinions et thèses qui concernent non seulement l'état des infrastructures de transport aux Pays-Bas, mais aussi leur développement au cours du XIXe siècle. L'étude analyse quelques aspects de la concurrence et de la complémentarité existant entre les divers modes de transport qui étaient présents avant l'apparition des chemins de fer, c'est-à-dire la situation des transports avant le rail, l'héritage des infrastructures plus anciennes, avant d'examiner le développement du réseau ferroviaire qui n'a pas joué un rôle prépondérant pour le transport des marchandises. [eng] Abstract In this article, I will give a presentation of the recent opinions and findings on these two questions concerning the state and the development of Dutch infrastructure in the 19th century. This paper analyses some aspects of competition and complementarity among the various modes of transport that were in existence during the first railway years i.e. the transport situation before the coming of the railway, the infrastructural heritage of former times, before to examine the development of the railway network which did not play a leading role in the inland transportation of goods.
