Volkswagen en France (1941-1944)

Histoire, économie & société, 1992, vol. 11, issue 3, 515-534

Abstract: [eng] Abstract From 1941, to 1944, acting in like manner to Daimler-Benz or Auto-Union, sought to set up a collaborative venture with Peugeot, who were in effect to be their subcontractors. This strategy failed : not only had Volkswagen arrived too late in the field, but acts of war (bombing, sabotage), together with the irrationality of the Reich's armement policy, made any form of effective and durable collaboration impossible.
