Abstract: [eng] Abstract General de Gaulle was not radically inimical to Britain's entry into the Common market ; the making of his policy in this matter only took place gradually. The successive stages are analyzed, particularly on the occasion of the meetings which de Gaulle had with Prime Minister Macmillan, at Champs (june 1962) and Rambouillet (december). The «veto» of January 1963 was the product of the international context — the failure of the Fouchet plan, the anglo-american agreement on Polaris missiles, the Cuba crisis — and of the relationship at the time between the U.S.A. and Europe. The second British application for admission and the second «veto» (1967) are then examined ; a serious deterioration in relations between Britain and France resulted and was illustrated by the «Soames affair». This paper carefully qualifies and explicits a policy which was not at all monolithic. [fre] Résumé Le Général de Gaulle n'était pas a priori formellement hostile à l'entrée de la Grande-Bretagne dans le Marché Commun ; sa politique ne s'est élaborée que progressivement. Les diverses étapes de cette élaboration sont retracées à travers les entrevues entre de Gaulle et le Premier ministre Macmillan, à Champs (juin 1962) et à Rambouillet (décembre). Ce fut le contexte international — échec du plan Fouchet, accord anglo-américain sur les Polaris, crise de Cuba — et l'ensemble des relations euro-américaines, qui conduisirent au «veto» de janvier 1963. La seconde candidature britannique et le second veto (1967) sont ensuite examinés, ainsi que la détérioration des rapports franco-britanniques (affaire Soames). Un soin particulier est apporté à nuancer et préciser une politique qui ne fut pas monolithique.
