Abstract:
[eng] Abstract Cantal «terre de chrétienté». Such is the widespread cliché of one of these highlands of the Massif Central. The emergence and perpetuation of this image can no doubt be explained by the isolation and the old-fashioned way of life. This image has most certainly been reinforced by the large number of priests from the area. Yet, such an image not only conceals the fact that all throughout the 19th century, their recruitment was irregular and very disparate depending on the area, but also, that the paths leading to the door of the seminary in Saint-Flour were various.
