[eng] Abstract The history of the Batignolles Building Company - SCB - between 1940 and 1968 corresponds to the end of a famous epoch during which the firm pulled up itself among the « Big Companies » of public works. The period from 1940 to 1944 struch it a fatal blow and marked an irremiable breaking in its history. Nevertheless, after the hesitations of the « Epuration », the firm entered again into a period of strong growth. But, very quickly, difficulties arose end the misfortunes it met in Egypt, on Idfina building site, showed leaders déficiences as regards management. As early as 1954, they had to abandon the control of their company in Empain group 's favours. However efforts that were displayed by the new team to rebuild the SCB turned out to be insufficient : the idea of a rapprochement with the SPIE appeared...
