Abstract: [fre] Résumé Dans l'ancien diocèse de Bordeaux, du XIIIe au début du XVIe siècle, la banlieue, en tant que juridiction suburbaine, apparaît étroitement associée aux communes. Elle forme le prolongement extra muros de la justice et du pouvoir de réglementation du maire et des jurats, parfois aussi de la fiscalité municipale. Régulièrement concédée par le roi ou usurpée par les magistrats urbains dans le cas de Bordeaux, la banlieue fait figure d'institution parvenue qui s'est surimposée par rapport aux juridictions préexistantes. Dans les relations de la ville avec les campagnes environnantes, la banlieue représente une forme de domination juridique. Son étendue ne coïncide que très rarement avec la zone d'influence économique, généralement plus étendue. [eng] Abstract In the ancient diocese of Bordeaux, from the 13th century to the beginning of the 16th century, the suburbs, in so far as suburban jurisdiction, seem to have been closely associated to the districts. They formed the extension extra muros of the mayor and the jurats' juridical and regulation powers, sometimes of the local tax systems as well. Often granted by the King, or, as in Bordeaux's case, usurped by the town magistrates, the suburbs were considered as a self-made institution, superimposed in relation Jo the pre-existent jurisdiction. In the relationship between the town and the surrounding contryside, the suburbs represented a form of juridical dominion. Their expanse did not often coincide with the area of economic influence, which was generally more extensive.
