Abstract: [fre] Résumé La deuxième moitié du XVIe siècle évoque avant tout la période sanglante des guerres civiles et l'idée d'une quelconque prospérité à cette époque pourrait paraître déplacée. Pourtant, à la fin des années 1570, « le beau XVIe siècle » ne s'était pas achevé pour tout le monde. Ennemond Perroct, marcha, drapier de Grenoble, connut alors une période faste au cours de laquelle ses affaires s'épanouirent. À l'ombre du parlement du Dauphine, sa boutique fournissait les produits divers et luxueux que réclamaient nobles et bourgeois, son livre de raison nous révèle une ascension patiente, confinée dans l'espace restreint d'une cité périphérique mais qui profitait toutefois des retombées du dense réseau commercial qui l'environnait. [eng] Absract The latter half of the sixteenth century in France calls to mind a period of bloody civils wars. The very idea of prosperity would appear out of place. Nevertheless, towards the end of the 1570s, the « golden years » of the sixteenth century were not over for everyone. Ennemond Perroct, a draper based in Grenoble, enjoyed a lucrative spell during this period. Close by the Dauphine parliament, his shop supplied members of both the nobility and middle classes with a variety of luxuries very much in demand. In spite of the geographical limitations of the area, his accounts reveal a steady rise in his fortunes thanks to the considerable trading activity which surrounded his business.
