Abstract: [fre] Résumé Issu de la petite banque privée, Alphonse Pinard fut nommé à la direction du Comptoir d'Escompte de Paris dès sa fondation en 1848. À partir du traité de commerce de 1860, il fut chargé de redéployer les activités de son établissement vers le financement du commerce extérieur. Il créa des agences en Extrême-Orient et fonda le Crédit foncier colonial. Cette société devint le creuset de son alliance avec Louis Bischoffsheim et Edouard Hentsch, représentants respectifs de la banque juive allemande et de la banque protestante genevoise, et le point de départ d'une très importante filière de création bancaire : Banque de Dépôt et de Crédit des Pays-Bas, Société générale, Banque franco-égyptienne et, après la mort de Pinard, Paribas et Banque de l'Indochine. Pinard, cet inconnu, est un acteur majeur de la révolution bancaire du Second Empire et un pionnier de l'impérialisme financier. [eng] Abstract A. Pinard, formerly working with a small private bank, got his nomination as director of the Comptoir d'Escompte de Paris as soon as it was established in 1848. After the Trade Agreement in 1860, he was put in charge for redeploying the activities of his concern towards the financing of overseas ventures. He created branch offices in the Far East and was the founder of the Crédit Foncier Colonial. The latter was to be the crucible of his partnership with L. Bischoffsheim and E. Hentsch, the first representing a Jewish owned german bank and the second a protestant bank in Geneva; the trio then put in place a very important network of banks : Banque de Dépôt et de Crédit des Pays-Bas, Société générale, Banque franco-égyptienne and, after the death of Pinard, Paribas and Banque de l'Indochine. Thus Pinard, a rather unknown man, became a major player in the banking revolution of the Second Empire and a pioneer of financial imperialism.
