La reconstruction de la sidérurgie européenne, 1945-1949: sérénité des uns, nouveau départ pour les autres

Abstract: [fre] Résumé Dans le contexte d'une très forte demande, la reconstruction de la sidérurgie européenne se réalise le plus souvent avec une stratégie de court et de moyen termes. Pour certaines sidérurgies, la question n'est pas celle de la reconstruction (Royaume-Uni, Suède, Belgique, Luxembourg, Allemagne fédérale) mais celle de retrouver des marchés ou un mode de fonctionnement «normal». Les sidérurgies françaises et italiennes se distinguent par un vrai débat stratégique. La sidérurgie française bénéficie de la stratégie offerte par le Plan Monnet et en profite beaucoup au moyen terme. La sidérurgie italienne voit aboutir le grand effort ouvert par O. Sinigalia avant guerre et entame une mutation fondamentale, gage de ses succès futurs. [eng] Abstract In a seller's market, the reconstruction of the European steel industry was done without real global strategy. For some countries, the problem was not reconstruction but to open again foreighn markets or to find a « normal » situation. That was the case for United Kingdom, Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg, Western Germany. The case of the Italian and French steel industries was different. A real strategic debate was elaborated. In the French case, the steel industry benefited strongly in middle term of the strategy proposed by the Monnet Plan. In the Italian case, the reconstruction period was the triumph of O. Sinigalia ' views and the beginning of the long terme growth of the Italian steel industry.
