Abstract: [fre] Résumé Créée en 1872 par des vétérans de l'épopée garibaldienne, la Société Alpine du Trentin, (devenue en 1876 Société des Alpinistes du Trentin) a toujours défendu, à travers la connaissance et l'exploration des montagnes - principal attrait de la région -, l'italianité du Trentin, terre irrédente italianophone, laissée à l'Autriche en 1866. Association officiellement apolitique, d'abord élitiste puis populaire, cette société a contribué de façon originale à la politisation du monde rural et fit des montagnes l'enjeu d'une lutte nationale acharnée. Entre la défense des particularisme locaux et le désir - prohibé - de se rattacher à l'Italie, les liens difficiles avec l'Églises et les autres partis politiques, libéraux et socialistes, l'histoire de la S.A.T., reflète, jusqu'à sa disparition en 1915 la complexité des mouvements irrédentistes dans l'Empire austro-hongrois finissant. [eng] Abstract Created in 1872, by veterans of the Garibaldian wars, the Societa Alpina del Trentino (known as Societa degli Alpinisti del Trentino after 1876) has always been fighting for the italia- nity of Trentino -a small italianophone province which remained austrian after 1866- through the exploration of the Dolomites mountains, the main resource of the province. Officially apolitical, elitist at first but gradually gaining popularity, the S.A.T contributed in a original way to the politization of the country, and turned the montains into a national issue. Always challenged by the church and other political parties, the S.A.T. has been reflecting, until its dissolution in 1915, the complex history of the irredentist movement in the austro-hungarian Empire.
