Abstract: [fre] L'économiste s'attache à comprendre révolution des structures industrielles dans le court-moyen terme. Il laisse à l'historien le soin de relever l'état des structures passées bien que celles-ci portent déjà en gestation l'environnement contemporain. Pour combler cette lacune, il faut tenir compte des mutations passées des firmes d'une branche. L'alternance entre technologie et différenciation, au cours du temps, laisse apparaître une branche historique qui satisfait de mieux en mieux un besoin objectif. L'industrie du traitement des données illustre ce processus historique de structuration-déstructuration. [eng] The economist analyses the variations of industrial patterns in the short-medium term. He leaves to the historian the survey of the ancient structures though they already bear the present surroundings. To fill that gap, we have to take into account the past strategy of the firms in one branch of industry, then in the long run, interchange between new technology and differentiation shows a historical industrial branch which satisfies better and better an objective need. The data processing industry reveals this historical fitting up of industrial structures.
