Abstract: [eng] The authors analyse the main factors of the world telecommunication industry from the viewpoint of the standard "structure-conduct-performance" trichotomy. This analysis stresses the influence of the institutional environment on the competitive behavior of the firms in the industry. The authors conclude that in the present environment the technological evolution constitutes the key restructuring factor in the telecommunication industry. [fre] Les auteurs analysent les caractéristiques de l'industrie mondiale des fabricants d'équipements de télécommunication en s'appuyant sur la trichotomie « structure-comportement-performance ». De cette analyse, ils mettent en évidence l'influence des aspects institutionnels sur l'émergence des comportements des firmes. Ils font, cependant, ressortir en conclusion que dans l'environnement actuel, l'évolution technologique constitue l'élément clé de restructuration industrielle.
