Abstract: [fre] À partir d'un exemple choisi entre trois compagnies pétrolières de taille différente l'auteur montre que les politiques d'investissement traduisent bien les choix stratégiques des entreprises.. S'agissant de l'évaluation économique des choix stratégiques et des investissements associés, l'importance des éléments implicites des calculs économiques, notamment des omissions volontaires ou involontaires, est soulignée, ainsi que la nécessité d'adapter les critères économiques d'appréciation des investissements aux types d'opérations.. L'auteur souligne enfin que les méthodes économiques laissent une large part à l'appréciation personnelle des chefs d'entreprise. [eng] Using as his example three oil companies of varying size, the author shows that investment policies are a good reflection of companies' strategic choices.. Within the framework of economic evaluation of strategic choices and ensuing investments, the importance of implicit factors among the economic variables — notably voluntary or involuntary omissions — is underlined, as well as the need adapt economic criteria for investment evaluation to the type of project.. The author also points out that economic tools leave substantial scope for top managers to exercise their personal judgment.
