Abstract: [eng] Italian banking system : features and paradox . First, this interview presents challenges and objectives of most important Italian banks and also describes the Italian banking system’s features. During the last decade, this system has known a large wave of reorganization which has allowed to improve the profitability of the banking sector. But the system’s structure remains parcelled. In a second part, the interview deals with the likely developments like cross-border agreements particularly with French banks. . JEL classification : F36, G21 [fre] Cette interview fait, tout d’abord, le point sur les enjeux et les objectifs des principaux groupes bancaires italiens et sur les particularités du système bancaire italien. Dans la dernière décennie, ce dernier a connu une importante vague de restructurations qui a permis d’améliorer la rentabilité du système, mais la structure du système reste encore très morcelée. L’interview expose ensuite les évolutions possibles du système, en termes de rapprochements transfrontaliers, notamment avec les acteurs français. . Classification JEL : F36, G21
