Abstract: [fre] Dans cet entretien, Michel Albert rappelle le contexte de genèse du Traité de Rome et sa perception en France. Il met en perspective historique les négociations et la nature des compromis auxquels elles ont abouti, en particulier le compromis entre une Europe politique et une Europe économique fondée sur l’idée du marché commun et les enjeux soulevés par ce compromis. Il revient aussi sur les premières années d’application du Traité et rend hommage à ses concepteurs et au travail de la Commission. . In this interview, Michel Albert reviews the circumstances surrounding the creation of the Treaty of Rome and how it was perceived in France. He describes the historical context of the negotiations and the nature of the compromises to which they led (particularly the compromise between a Political Europe and an Economic Europe founded on the concept of a common market and the challenges it raised). He also revisits the first years of the Treaty’s implementation and pays tribute to both the Treaty’s designers and the work carried out by the European Commission. . JEL classification : F15, N14
