Abstract: [eng] Infrastructure Funding : a Long-Term Perspective . Precise analysis of the methods of funding certain infrastructures at carefully selected moments, in function of the long-term fluctuations that have been identified, should shed light on the dynamic history of infrastructure. The preceding lines lead us to distinguish five distinct periods over the two centuries under review : that of the infrastructure already begun before the French Revolution, and still predominant into the 1820s ; that of the first wave of railroad and mine construction during the first period of industrialization (1840 to 1880) ; that of the second period of industrialization and its new networks at the time of the republican compromise on public service (1890 to 1940) ; that of the big national companies and rapid growth (1950 to 1970) ; and that of current deregulation and diversification with the advent of globalized markets. . JEL Classification : H54, N43, N44 [fre] L'analyse précise des modalités de financement de certaines infrastructures à des moments délibérément choisis en fonction des fluctuations dégagées sur le temps long devrait nous éclairer sur les dynamiques historiques des infrastructures. Cet article distingue sur les deux siècles sous revue cinq périodes distinctes : celle des infrastructures déjà amorcées sous l'Ancien Régime et encore dominantes dans les années 1820 ; celle du premier cycle des chemins de fer et des compagnies minières lors de la première industrialisation (1840-1880) ; celle de la seconde industrialisation et de ses nouveaux réseaux à l'heure du compromis républicain de service public (1890-1940) ; celles des grandes entreprises nationales et de la Grande Croissance (1950-1970) ; celle de la libéralisation et de la diversification contemporaines à l'heure des marchés mondialisés. .
